AI winners & losers

I'm betting on three categories of winners for the AI theme in the next months/years:

1. Disappearing of the tech "middle class"

  • πŸ“ˆ LONG Technology mega-cap: the cost expenditure of building data centers, and ability for mega-cap tech companies to just buy out competitors early means value will keep accruing in large tech stocks like Microsoft, Google, Nvidia, Amazon.
  • πŸ“ˆ LONG Technology small-cap: will be able to up will a few big unicorns or super valuable acquisitions. Developing new models or approaches, optimizations, etc. that larger caps will pay a premium for.
  • πŸ“‰ SHORT Technology middle-cap: Doesn't have the deep pockets of the mega-cap, and the swiftness of small-cap. I think the whole middle will be hollowing out.

2. Bio-tech and pharmaceuticals

  • πŸ“ˆ LONG Bio-tech and pharmaceutical sectors. These will hugely benefit from the boost in research capabilities brought by AI, and they will be faster to adopt it than, say, healthcare. We've already seen how AI can be used to accelerate SWE, maths, and I have conviction pharmaceuticals and bio-tech will follow suit.

3. Cybersecurity

  • πŸ“ˆ Cybersecurity This is a massive blind spot for all the vibe coding happening right now. Specifically companies providing software supply-chain monitoring solutions will see huge tailwinds.
